We're really pleased to welcome Katy Raven as our new Project Co-ordinator for the 'My Life - Looking Up' project.
We'll let her say hello in her own words....
Hello to all the ASBAH members out there! Here is a bit about me, my experience, work history and general interests.
First and foremost I should tell you that I am a mother to 3 children, a badge (that may be covered in blood sweat and tears) I wear with pride and love.
I like eating nice food, being in the countryside, warm fires, my dog (most of the time) picnics by the river and meditating (a great asset due to the afore mentioned children and dog!).
It is fair to say that my heart has always been in the arts, contemporary dance being ‘my thing’. I studied at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and went on to work as a professional dancer and community artist, touring and delivering workshops to a wide range of audiences. As a free-lance community artist I have worked with all ages and abilities, from babies to 100year old care home residents.
More latterly and alongside my movement work, I have trained as a Mindfulness teacher, studying at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice. Mental Health is an incredibly important driver for me, knowing how we can best take care of ourselves and the processes, support and actions we need to be able to do this is what I most look forward to in this new role at ASBAH.
….And of course I’m also looking forward to making new friends and having fun!
